Dani Carvajal, who scored the winning goal in Madrid's 3-2 victory over Almeria on Sunday, told reporters that he preferred to win "more quietly", saying that they won the match by being consistent with their threats to the visitors' box.
"Nowadays you can't make mistakes because the opposition scored two goals against us, but from half-time we came out all guns blazing. Thanks to our fans and everyone's commitment, we managed to win," he told reporters.
"I would have preferred to have won more calmly, but the victory shows what our history is. Anything could have happened until the last moment. Thanks to our people we managed to win," he continued.
Carvajal admitted that his team were suffering physical strain after playing in the Spanish Super Cup and Thursday's Copa del Rey match against Atletico.
"We had a very bad first half. We needed rhythm and intensity because we knew that with talent we can win games. We gave absolutely everything, we are exhausted," he added.
Finally, the defender wanted to respond to the comments of Gonzalo Melero, who insinuated that the refereeing had favoured the home side: "The match was correctly refereed. If you review the plays it is easy to see that."
