Chelsea are back to winning ways this season after claiming a comfortable 3-0 victory over Mexican club America. The Blues had drawn their first pre-season friendly 2-2 against Wrexham AFC and suffered a painful defeat to Celtic from which they have since bounced back.
Enzo Maresca's side managed to go in at half-time with a two-goal lead after Nkunku broke the deadlock from the penalty spot early on and Marc Guiu doubled the advantage by scoring his first goal as a Blue. Noni Madueke converted Chelsea's second penalty in the second half to put the icing on the cake.
The Italian coach took time after the game to praise the former Leipzig striker, highlighting his versatility to play in a number of positions. "I know Christo from years ago. I loved him before I joined this club. In the way we want to play, he is the ideal player," he said.
"He can play in the pocket, in the nine, on the wing. At this moment we are using him in the pocket and he is doing very well," concluded the Blues manager.
