Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva took to social media to apologise for his huge mistake against Newcastle that led to the Magpies' third goal.

Thiago Silva became the oldest player to play for Chelsea against Newcastle at 39 years and 64 days, breaking a record that had stood for 76 years.
However, the match was one to forget rather than remember for the 'Selecao' international. The Blues were thrashed 4-1 by Eddie Howe's side and the centre-back made a huge error that led to the home side's third goal and dealt a blow to the visitors' hopes of a comeback.
The Brazilian shifted to his right but left the ball behind, with Joelinton proceeding to pounce on it and fire it past Robert Sanchez. After the match, the former PSG player took to his social media to apologise for his mistake.
"I'm devastated. It wasn't a good day for us. I would like to apologize to everyone for the defeat, especially to my teammates who believe in me and support me every day. I take full responsibility. Let's gather strength and come back stronger," wrote the centre-back on Twitter.
