Tough blow for Chelsea just five days before the 2023/2024 Premier League kicks off. The Blues will be without new signing Christopher Nkunku until possibly December.
A few days ago it was reported that the French striker could miss the first game of the season after suffering a knee injury in the London side's last pre-season friendly against Dortmund.
However, Pochettino's side have confirmed the worst news in a statement on social media: "Nkunku has sustained a knee injury which will rule the forward out for an extended period. The 25-year-old has undergone an operation and will now begin a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical department," reads the statement.
Although the Stamford Bridge outfit have not confirmed how long the former Leipzig player may be out of action, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that he may not be available for as long as 16 weeks, i.e. until December.
