The asking price for players has been growing exponentially over the years and each transfer window it is even more expensive to sign the top players of each team. Therefore, many clubs have decided to apply a policy of signing players when they are young and have not yet reached their prime.
In fact, one of the leaders in applying this transfer policy is Real Madrid, who a few years ago brought in Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo when they had not yet made their breakthrough and more recently Endrick, who was already starting to impress at Palmeiras at the age of 16.
Chelsea are another of those clubs who are also trying to land promising young players before their price tag becomes too high in the near future. Recently ‘AS’ reported that the Blues had signed Palmeiras starlet Estevao Willian for 65 million, but he is not the only target the English club had in Brazil.
According to ‘The Athletic’, Enzo Maresca's side have stepped up their pursuit of Sport Recife's 17-year-old winger Pedro Lima, and further negotiations are scheduled for today with optimism high that a deal will be done.
