It’s no secret that Chelsea are a team that are finding it difficult to reach their full potential, much to the frustration of the Stamford Bridge faithful. There were high hopes that the club would make a fast start to this year’s Premier League campaign under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, who signed plenty of new players ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The club’s vision was clearly to build towards the future, as a number of younger, but high quality players arrived at the club over the summer. The likes of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Cole Palmer, and Nicolas Jackson were just some of the players to sign for Chelsea, but so far, they’ve struggled to make a notable impact so far, and it might not get any easier for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, as they’ve got a tricky run of fixtures heading into the festive period.
It’s been revealed by betting experts at bonuscodebets.co.uk that Chelsea are priced at 8/5 on Betfair to finish in the top-six in the Premier League table this term, which could be a tempting bet if you’re a keen bettor. It seems as though Chelsea are already keen to add further options to their squad in future transfer windows though, with it recently being reported that the Blues are targeting a deal for Bayer Leverkusen talisman, Florian Wirtz. The young German international has been hugely impressive with Leverkusen, and has already chipped in with goal contributions for them this season. The 20-year-old has scored five goals, and been on hand to provide eight assists for his Bayer Leverkusen team-mates, who have played their part in their strong start to this year’s Bundesliga campaign, as they’re sat top of the table after nine matches.
It appears as though the German side could have a serious battle on their hands in future transfer windows if they’re to keep hold of Wirtz, with Manchester City also believed to be keen on signing their talisman, who looks destined for the very top of world football if the early years of his senior career are anything to go by.
Manchester City would obviously be a potentially tempting destination for any player, as they have both well-documented financial wealth, as well as playing their football to an impressively high standard under the management of Pep Guardiola. However, you have to ask the question as to whether Wirtz would be a regular in Guardiola’s side, as the Spaniard already has plenty of attacking options at his disposal.
Therefore, a move to Chelsea could be better-suited to Wirtz for the time being, especially if he’s looking to continue to play on a regular basis in senior football. The Premier League is known for being one of the most competitive in world football, and the Blues’ struggles are surely going to turn around as the season progresses. A move to Stamford Bridge would make sense for all parties involved as well, as Chelsea need a player of Wirtz’s quality to take them to the next level, and the London-based side should be doing everything they can to strike a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for his signature.
