Kepa Arrizabalaga became the world's most expensive goalkeeper when Athletic sold him to Chelsea for almost £72 million. The 29-year-old has been playing five seasons for the Blues as first-choice goalkeeper.
However, Real Madrid signed him on loan at the start of the season to replace Thibaut Courtois, who is still recovering from an ACL injury. But the Spaniard has failed to make his mark with the Spanish giants as coach Carlo Ancelotti is rotating him with Andriy Lunin.
The Ukrainian goalkeeper was waiting for his moment to shine at Madrid and the Chelsea loanee has been overshadowed by his brilliant performances in the Spanish top-flight. Moreover, Kepa suffered an abductor injury that kept him out of action for several weeks.
As a result, according to 'The Sun', the Blues are willing to sell Kepa to the La Liga club but Ancelotti's side are not yet sure they want to sign him permanently. The Spanish team expect to have Courtois at the end of the term and want to sign a decisive goalkeeper to be the Belgian's back-up.
Mauricio Pochettino's side will contact 'Los Blancos' to discuss his transfer as they are willing to make a massive loss and sell him for £50 million less than the price they signed him for.
