Chelsea's Lampard claims Joao Felix 'has to have the work ethic'
Joan Lampard spoke about Joao Felix after dropping him to the bench once again, this time against Arsenal. He explained that, although he is talented, he feels he lacks "work ethic". "I'm not saying he doesn't have it, because he worked with Simeone, but he has to understand what I want," he said.

Chelsea lost 3-1 to Premier League leaders Arsenal on Tuesday. The Blues are in 12th place with 39 points and four consecutive defeats.
After the game, Frank Lampard was asked on 'Sky Sport' about Joao Felix, who did not come off the bench. He defended that he does not lack quality, but believes that he has not finished adapting to the team.
"There’s no doubt he has huge talent. That is really visible in training daily in those moments showing what he can do around the box. I think probably for me coming in I need to find a clear structure and a clear off-the-ball idea for how we work, and that’s the challenge with Joao," he said.
The coach believes that he has to work not so much on his qualities, but on his weaknesses: "As managers you rely on things you’re gonna get from players, that huge talent is something maybe we did have or didn’t have in different degrees, but he also has to have the work ethic, the team nature about him. I’m not saying he doesn’t have that because he’s played with Simeone - a coach that demands collectiveness - but at the same time finding his way here he has to understand in the short-term what I want."
If he can dispel those doubts, Lampard believes he could bring a lot to Chelsea. "Then he can show his talent once he does the other stuff," he said. As for his future, everything seems to indicate that he could remain at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea and Atletico are considering extending his loan for the 2023-24 season.
