Enzo Maresca made his Chelsea managerial debut in the last few hours in a friendly against Wrexham in which the Blues showed signs of fatigue after the first training sessions of pre-season. The 2-2 draw was the least of it for a Premier League side in which Marc Guiu made his debut.
Nkunku and Ugochukwu were the scorers for Maresca's side, who opened and closed the scoring against a historic Wrexham side for whom Luke Bolton and Marriott scored at Levi's Stadium.
Far from the good vibes of this kind of friendly on tour, there was a brawl right from the kick-off after Levi Colwill was the subject of an ill-timed tackle by James McClean in midfield.
Despite his experience, the Irishman misjudged and was a little late on a Chelsea defender who lost his temper and grabbed the Wrexham player violently by the chest. Several players from both teams came out to prevent the fight from escalating and the referee intervened to quell the fight.
It was a surprisingly angry incident, given that the match had just started, and did not result in a caution for either player.
