Man City are aware of the interest Erling Haaland is stirring up at Real Madrid. In order to keep him as far away as possible from the Merengues, 'The Sun' claim that City are ready to wrap the Norwegian in cotton wool. They are thought to be offering him €29.5 million per season, making him the highest paid player in the Premier League.

Real Madrid want Erling Haaland to fill Karim Benzema's boots, whose contract ends in 2024. The Bernabeu will do everything possible to get the the City man in their ranks.
But Manchester City are not ready to make things easy for Madrid, they will actually do the complete opposite. Faced with recent news of the growing interest in their striker, the English side are thinking of hitting back with a massive offer.
'The Sun' have reported that City could make Haaland the highest paid player in the Premier League, as at the moment, he's sharing the crown with De Bruyne and De Gea. At the moment, he's on €22.1 million per season, and they're thinking of upping that to €29.5 million. And it's all with the aim of him not signing for Madrid.
Haaland's current contract at City lasts until 2027. City are also hoping that, with that big pay rise, they'll convince him to stay another year until 2028.
The Norwegian's entourage are still certain that he's happy at City and that, for now, he's not thinking about leaving, but the Mancunian club want him to prove that by signing for another year. Only time will tell if this succulent offer is enough to keep Haaland off Madrid's radar.
