About a week after the controversial arrival of free-to-air Spanish football to Chinese operators, La Liga confirmed on Tuesday that the first official Clasico of the season will take place on Saturday 26 October at 21.00 CET.
This is the same time slot as the one selected for the second head-to-head between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the previous campaign, which was on 21 April. Until this afternoon, only the weekend for one of the most interesting duels of the season was known, not only in the Spanish championship but also in Europe in general.
Returning to television, the event will be broadcast on DAZN, as has been the norm in recent years. The schedule chosen by La Liga can be interpreted as a sort of wink to the Spanish fans, who have tended to show their discontent, through social networks, with prices, piracy surveillance and schedules.
These complaints were triggered when La Liga president Javier Tebas agreed with some Chinese media outlets to broadcast free-to-air matches with an ideal time setting for the Asian time zone.
