Thibaut Courtois' 2012-22 season was incredible. The Real Madrid goalkeeper was, together with Karim Benzema, the Madrid side's best player and proof of that was how he played in the league and most of all in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
His several key saves kept his team afloat more than once in the tournament and, after winning the league, Champions League and the two Super Cups, the awards did not take long to come flooding in. The first one was the 'MoM' award for the final against Liverpool.
Next was the Yashin Trophy at the Balon d'Or gala. But that was not all, as IFFHS have now named him best goalkeeper of 2022. This is the second time that he has lifted the trophy, as he also won it in 2018 after his stellar performance in the World Cup.
Therefore, the Madrid man has levelled Peter Schmeichel with two trophies from IFFHS. Courtois, with 125 points, overtook Dibu Martinez, who got 110, and Bono (55). He may even have more trophies to come on the 27th February when FIFA are holding 'The Best' prizes.
