With just four days to go before Roberto Martinez announces the squad for Portugal's upcoming matches, Cristiano Ronaldo, 39, has said he wants to remain with the national team despite his inconsistent performance at Euro 2024.
"When I leave the national team, I won't tell anyone beforehand and it will be a very spontaneous decision, but also a very meditated one," he told Portugal's 'NOW' channel in an interview on Monday.
"But right now, what I want is to be able to help the national team in their upcoming games. We have the Nations League ahead of us and I would really like to play," Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo also spoke about his future after hanging up his boots and ruled out the possibility of becoming a coach. ‘"In my mind, for the moment, it doesn't cross my mind (the possibility of) being a first-team coach or any team coach. It doesn't even cross my mind, I've never thought about it," said the current Al-Nassr player.
"I don't see my future going that way. I see myself doing other things outside football, but the future only God knows," he added.
