Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who scored the 11,000th goal in the club's history on Saturday against Getafe (4-0), according to the club's own figures, was happy about the milestone and the victory.
"They told me at the end of the game (about the 11,000th goal) and it's good that when I score a goal, it's historic," he said smiling to the microphones of 'Movistar+'.
The Dutch midfielder, scorer of the 'Cules' third goal, explained that the key to his team's victory was interpreting the Madrid side's advanced defence.
"They wanted to press us high and often left one on one too. We had a lot of space behind the defence and we had to take advantage of that to create chances," he said.
Despite all this, De Jong was self-critical because he was not able to pass to his team-mates as often as he would have liked: "It wasn't my best day in terms of passing. I don't think I was good on the ball.
After the good game and the convincing victory, the Barcelona midfielder believes that the team should not give La Liga for lost yet.
"We have to fight until the end. It doesn't depend on us now, but we have to keep winning games and we'll see how far we can go," he concluded.
