Ousmane Dembele's return to France this summer might not have been the most anticipated transfer at the Parc des Princes but it came to fruition just in time for the start of the 2023-24 campaign.
The French striker told his new club's media that he "always talked about Paris Saint-Germain" and he decided "it's the time to come here to Paris, to France, to my home". "I'm very happy here and I hope we will do great things here", he continued.
Despite a long period away from Ligue 1 - he left Rennes in 2016 and spent two seasons with Dortmund in the Bundesliga before his six years in Barcelona - the French international doesn't think he'll feel out of place in his home league.
"This championship has evolved enormously since I left, so I'm very happy to come back to Ligue 1 and I arrive very thirsty," he continued. "I know the championship, I watch it regularly. I know a lot of players in this championship so no I'm not out of place in this championship".
"I'm excited and I hope I will win my first title with Paris Saint-Germain", he finished. His title aspirations didn't get off to the most flawless start however, as the defending champions were held to a goalless draw in their opening game at home against Lorient.
