Paris Saint-Germain and winger Ousmane Dembele have reached an agreement for a five-season contract and a gross annual salary of 20 million euros plus bonuses, 'Le Parisien' reported Monday.
The French international's departure from Barcelona depends on the Spanish club and PSG reaching an agreement over the transfer. The French player told the Catalan club of his intention to leave and they agreed on Monday to give him five days to negotiate with the Parc des Princes.
'L'Equipe' reported on Tuesday that the French club had informed Barca on Monday of their intention to activate the 50 million euro release clause. The Frenchman's contract stipulates, according to the source, that the simple communication that the clause will be paid is enough for it to become effective. And PSG sent a letter on Monday informing of exactly that.
Now, PSG have until the end of this week to make Dembele one of their own, which means negotiating now with Barca.
The final price could be higher than the initial €50 million, as the Parisian club is hoping the payment can be made in several installments, and not in a single one as required by the payment of the termination clause.
If Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain do not reach an agreement for the transfer, the French club will pay the 50 million euros up front and on Sunday, at the latest, Dembele will be a PSG player.
All this, while the player is still in the United States. Dembele travelled with Barcelona to Las Vegas, for the last friendly of the U.S. tour. However, 'Mundo Deportivo' reports he may not in fact play, so as not to risk any injuries ahead of his move.
