Depay departure to help Gavi, Araujo and Balde contract talks
'Sport' have suggested that, if Memphis Depay leaves Barcelona in the January transfer window, they will be able officialise Gavi, Ronaldo Araujo and Alex Balde's new contracts before planned. For now, only the first two of those mentioned have signed - the left-back still has to wait. At the moment, Laporta's plan was to get everything done in the summer, but if the Dutchman leaves, everything will be sped up.

It is one thing to officialise a new contract and then announce it to the press, but, behind the scenes, you have to get it past the league officials. In Barcelona's case with Gavi, Ronald Araujo and Alex Balde, the three players' new contracts are being dealt with the corresponding bureaucracy. The young left-back's deal, however, has not even been signed.
Thanks to this update from the Catalan side, 'Sport' have reported that Memphis Depay's possible departure in January, actually, would be ideal. If it happens, Joan Laporta and his board would use their economic flexibility which would be generated from the sale to speed up the contracts mentioned above. Therefore, they would not have to wait until the summer, which is what they had in mind.
At the Camp Nou HQ, the three players who are part of Xavi's squad's situation is considered a priority instead of looking for other possiblities because they are players who offer high-quality results. It is strange to not see them start practically every weekend, so it is logical that this preferential treatment has been opted for.
What you must take into account, however, is that Depay's departure is not even agreed or about to be agreed yet. Atletico Madrid have grown as a potential destination, who lost Joao Felix after loaning him to Chelsea to the end of the season. Therefore, it may be that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid share another attacker, just like was the case with Griezmann.
