Depay set to leave Atletico as a free agent

Memphis Depay is very likely not to stay at Atletico Madrid. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the striker has to sit down to discuss his future with his current club but it is expected that there will be no automatic renewal of his contract by the La Liga side.
Atletico are determined to dispense with the services of Memphis Depay. As a result, the Dutchman will enter the next transfer window as a free agent. In other words, he will go for free to the club of his choice, making him one of the bargains of the summer.
Depay joined the Spanish club in January 2023 for a fixed fee of three million euros plus one million euros in variables. During the 2022/23 season, he made nine appearances in which he scored four goals. In the current campaign, he has made 31 appearances, 11 starts, and has scored nine goals, providing two assists.
The striker has picked up a number of muscle injuries this season that have caused him to miss a few games for Atletico. With the season coming to an end, the board has decided that the 30-year-old should continue his career away from the Metropolitano Stadium.
