France boss Didier Deschamps was asked on Mbappe's night out during an interview with 'Telefoot' on Sunday. The Real Madrid striker was spotted clubbing in Stockholm on Friday while the national team played their first Nations League game of the October international break, which sparked media talk over the weekend.
Mbappe was heavily criticised by the French media for what was described as irresponsible behaviour from the captain of the French national team. However, Mbappe's teammates showed their support as Wesley Fofana and Matteo Guendouzi both jumped to his defence in their press conferences ahead of the clash against Belgium.
Didier Deschamps, who did not call up Mbappe for this round of international fixtures, echoed the words from his players as he insisted that the 25-year-old has the freedom to do as he pleases during his days off. "I don't keep up with players who are not here [on international duty]. I don't know what they are up to. Kylian is on a schedule with his club, Real Madrid. I didn't know what his schedule looked like, if he was there [in Madrid] or whatnot," said Dechamps.
"I manage the players that are there. Those who are off are free to do what they want. Kylian senr me a message before the match and that's all I know about it," he further added. France take on Belgium on Monday in Group A2, as the two sides fight for a place behin Italy, who lead the group with 7 points.
