A new era at Las Palmas. The Yellows, who are bottom of the Spanish Liga table, announced on Tuesday night the arrival of Diego Martinez, who becomes the first team coach until the end of the season.
However, the islanders have stated in the press release that the Vigo-born coach has the possibility of staying on for another season if they remain in the top flight. His presentation will take place this Wednesday, at 16:30, in the press room of the Ciudad Deportiva.
Diego Martinez takes over from Luis Carrion, who failed to win any of the nine league games already played. It is a challenge for the Galician, who had been out of work for 10 months following his dismissal at Olympiacos on 5 December 2023.
The coach has extensive experience in Spanish football, having coached Arenas de Armilla (2006-07), Motril (2007 to 2009), Sevilla C (2010-11), Sevilla Atletico (2014 to 2017), Osasuna (2017-18), Granada (2018 to 2021) and Espanyol (2023-23).
