Dortmund centre circle widened for testicular cancer awareness
Borussia Dortmund, as a way of raising awareness for testicular cancer, increased their centre circle before the Bundesliga game against Freiburg. After Sebastien Haller, brought in last summer to replace Erling Haaland, beat a testicular cancer, his club wanted to make people aware of the need to take care with this disease and to carry out regular checks.

After months of operations and chemotherapy, Sebastian Haller beat a testicular cancer which was found in his medical at the start of his chapter at Borussia Dortmund. He was the one called in to replace Erling Haaland, who signed for Manchester City, but the disease got in the way of his career. Therefore, his club, aware of the importance of preventing this type of cancer, did a gest accordingly ahead of their Bundesliga game against Freiburg.
The centre circle at the Signal Iduna Park saw itself enlargened with a bulge by the club staff in order to raise awareness of testicular tumours. In an official statement which explained what they had done, they warned of the importance of carrying out regular checks and treating the subject seriously, which can be cured if what the doctors recommend is done.
"Before the match and during the half-time break, a bulge that symbolizes a testicular tumor will be added to the center circle to raise awareness for testicular cancer. It's never too early to get a cancer screening and please do it regularly!", says a tweet which the side used to announce the gesture together with an image of the pitch with the alteration.
With regards to Haller, the one who provoked in this awareness campaign, is now back in the Borussia Dortmund squad. In fact, in the game when the gesture was carried out, against Freiburg, he was named in the starting 11, up front with Emre Can, Jude Bellingham, Marco Reus and teammates behind. As soon as he gets a couple of goals in his pocket after returning, it should not take long to return to his best level.
