West Ham United's German striker Niclas Fullkrug said that Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund, where he played last season, "lost a lot of identity in the summer" following his departure, that of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels.
Speaking at the German national team's training camp press conference, the German striker claimed there were "several reasons" why he began "thinking about a change" after his departure from the European runners-up, and implied that his former club's signing of Guinean Serhou Guirassy was "not the biggest sign of confidence" for him.
Fullkrug revealed that he received "some appealing offers" and decided to move to England to fulfil his dream: "The Premier League is something very special again. I felt a crazy conviction," he said.
Questioned about the situation at his former club, the striker commented that he only realises what you see from the outside, so "you shouldn't judge too early, neither positive nor negative".
To conclude, he praised one of the strikers acquired by Borussia Dortmund this summer and with whom he shares colours in the German national team, Maximilian Beier: "I always thought: when he starts scoring goals, he'll be a very good guy. I hope he develops well at Borussia and can contribute to the team," he said.
