Girona's Artem Dovbyk was almost a done deal to become a new Atletico Madrid player. However, according to Matteo Moretto, a change in his agent's commissions and the 'Colchoneros' refusal to pay the new amount demanded have stalled the negotiations.

Everything pointed to Artem Dovbyk becoming Atletico Madrid's first signing for the 2024-25 season. Both clubs had reached an agreement for a figure of around 40 million euros between fixed and variable fees.
However, when everything was ready for the signing and the official announcement, a snag emerged out of nowhere. As reported by journalist Matteo Moretto, the Ukrainian striker's agent demanded a higher percentage of the deal, something the 'Colchoneros' refused to accept.
This meant that the deal was put on stand by, although the Madrid side are not alarmed, as it is considered to be a mere formality that will be agreed in the next few days.
This pause has caused Roma, a team interested in Dovbyk, to try to make a final push for the striker. In fact, and although the Ukrainian's predisposition to dress in red and white is total, he would not mind signing for the ‘Giallorossi’ if things get too complicated. At the moment, and looking at previous cases, nothing can be taken for granted in the world of football.
