Barcelona are keeping an eye on Argentina, specifically Buenos Aires. In River Plate there is a 17-year-old player who could make the big leap to Europe in the coming months, Claudio Echeverri.
The 'Diablito', as he is nicknamed, has already made it clear that he will not continue at the Argentinian side once his contract runs out at the end of 2024. And that is where Barcelona come in.
They know that he is a special player. He already proved it at the Under 17 World Cup. In Argentina they already say that the Catalan club can pay 30 million euros, but that price can now go down.
And the fact is that Echeverri, after River Plate became champions after beating Rosario Central, said publicly that he will not continue in Buenos Aires.
"My agent spoke to the president, many things were discussed. It was said that he didn't take the calls, but they were always in contact. I'm not going to renew, but I'm going to stay here for another six months or a year to enjoy it. Then we'll see," he told 'ESPN'.
