Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes has been named goalkeeper of the year at 'The Best' awards, ahead of Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois and Al Hilal's Yassine Bono.
Ederson was Manchester City's first-choice goalkeeper in winning the second treble in English football history, winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
The Brazilian goalkeeper, who joined City from Benfica for 40 million in 2017, kept 11 clean sheets in the Premier League, helping Manchester City win a third straight Premier League title, and conceded just three goals in the Champions League play-offs. In the FA Cup he played just 45 minutes in the fifth round against Bristol City, as Stefan Ortega started the competition.
It was only Southampton in the quarter-finals of the League Cup that prevented Manchester City from achieving a domestic hat-trick that no team in the history of English football has ever achieved.
Ederson, interestingly, was voted goalkeeper of the season, even though Courtois was the one in the FIFA Best XI at the same gala.
