Edin Terzic to receive €1m after leaving Borussia Dortmund

Former Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic has reportedly received just over one million euros in compensation following his resignation from the North Rhine-Westphalia club.
According to the newspaper 'Bild', that million euros corresponds to the equivalent of four months of the current year remaining on the Croatian-born coach's contract.
The German newspaper also reports that the compensation is subject to "a special clause", according to which "Terzic can only credit the sum to his account if he does not sign for a new club as soon as possible".
The newspaper reveals that Terzic attracted interest from English clubs after leading his side to the Wembley Champions League final against Real Madrid at Wembley, whose name is already well-known in the Premier League having been assistant coach to Slaven Bilic at West Ham United between 2015 and 2017.
The German coach's resignation was announced on Thursday last week, following a summit meeting attended by the club's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke, new sporting director Lars Ricken, technical secretary Sebastian Kehl, fellow technical director Sven Mislintat and adviser Matthias Sammer. According to club insiders, the meeting was extremely emotional and tears were shed.
The resignation reportedly came after a long internal war with player Mats Hummels, who also recently left the Dortmund squad, and a lack of recognition at the club, which finally convinced Terzic to leave voluntarily.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund have turned the page and have chosen a new coach. Terzic's replacement has already been confirmed: Nuri Sahin is expected to set the bar high.
