Francesco Calzona and his Slovakia side will try to stun England on Saturday after a successful qualifying campaign in which they took four points and finished third in their group after beating strong teams such as Belgium (0-1). Now, despite the big difference between the two teams, the coach said he is confident that his players will play a good game.
"If we talk about the quality of the team, they are worth 1.5 billion and we are worth 150 million, but I think the difference is made by the players. The coach has to transmit his idea and the players have to do what they can on the pitch," he told a news conference.
"I'm lucky because I have a very focused team. They want to play attacking football, be good defensively and prepare for a game like this. I trust my players, they have given me a lot of satisfaction in terms of performance and behaviour. They are great from this perspective.
Calzona acknowledged that, when England play well and put in strong performances, they can be a team "that becomes unbeatable", but said that Slovakia have to take advantage of all their doubts to try to stun the Three Lions.
"We have to be very careful because they have a very high quality squad. I think they have the best squad in the European Championship because they have physique, technique and creativity. They have a lot of quality to choose from. You have to take advantage of their weaknesses and their concessions, but you have to be careful because they can punish you at any moment," he concluded.
