As things stands, everything is pointing towards Eric Dier's departure from Bayern Munich at the end of the season. According to 'Sky Sport Germany' journalist Florian Plettenberg the Bavarians are not keen on extending the defender's contract.
The 30-year-old could therefore see himself become a free agent in the summer, with his current contract with the club approaching its expiry. Dier is in his second season in Germany after a shock-loan move from Tottenham last January. Bayern made his transfer permanent during the summer transfer window after reportedly becoming a prominent figure in the dressing room.
Under new manager Kompany, the Englishman has not enjoyed much playing time this season, casting him to a secondary role in the team. Bayern are seemingly prioritising the renewal of his teammate Dayot Upamecano with a long-term contract. And with reports also indicating Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah as a major target for the Bundesliga giants, it looks like it could be the end of the road for Dier at Bayern.
That said, the decision is not final. Plettenberg informs that Bayern's verdict on the England international will depend on whether the club will be able to strengthen the defensive departement for the following season. Jonathan Tah's signing, for example, is not as easy as one may think. The German defender is also on Real Madrid's radar for the summer, especially given their injury crisis this campaign.
