Erling Haaland chosen as City's Player of the Season

Not to anyone's surprise, goal-machine Haaland has been chosen as Man City's Player of the Season 2022-23. This accolade follows his win of the Premier League's best player, across all league clubs.
Despite remaining goalless in the Champions League final against Inter and both legs of the semi-final against Real Madrid, Erling Haaland made his mark on Manchester City on his debut season with the Sky Blues.
He particularly shone in the Premier League. The Norwegian was chosen as the league's best player a couple of weeks ago. With his City teammates, Haaland conquered Europe as well and secured the team a historic treble: winning the FA Cup by beating local rivals United, romping to a fifth Premier League title in six seasons and finally securing the club's first ever Champions League title.
On an individual level, the 22-year-old has had an extraordinary season, in every sense of the word. Not even a year after his arrival, he has already become the holder of the record for goals scored in a 38-game season.
With 36 goals (and 8 assists) in 35 games played, he has surpassed the 34 goals scored by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer, in 40 games with Newcastle (1993-1994) and 42 with Blackburn (1994-1995) respectively.
In the Champions League, he dominated the rankings with 12 goals in 11 matches. Amongst these 12 came a quintuple scored in 63 minutes against RB Leipzig in the last 16. He became the second player, after Lionel Messi, to score five goals in a knockout match of the UCL.
Across all competitions, he scored 52 goals and assisted nine in 53 matches played. A season of jaw-dropping stats for the young striker that saw him rewarded already with the Premier League's Player and Young Player of the Season trophy, and now Man City's Player of the Season too. Could he crown off his debut season in England with a Ballon d'Or too?
