The Netherlands-France, one of the expected best matches of this group stage, produced the first 0-0 draw of this European Championship. It was the first goalless stalemate since England's Euro 2021 match against Scotland.

Euro 2024 is producing some great matches and some surprises. What there had not been, until Friday, was a goalless match. It was in one of the matches that was expected to be the most attractive for the neutral fan, the Netherlands-France.
The lack of goals from both teams, especially France, was the main reason why there were no goals on Friday night at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.
Added to that was the fact that Kylian Mbappe did not play a single minute against the Dutch side because of a broken nose. Didier Deschamps preferred to rest him for later matches.
A 0-0 draw is a rare result in European Championships. In fact, in the last edition it only happened on one occasion, also on the second matchday and with England and Scotland as protagonists.
Since that match at Wembley on 18th June 2021, it has taken 50 games to see another goalless draw in the continental tournament, the one between the Dutch and the French.
Interestingly, the first goalless draw in this edition came at the same time as the last edition, in the 21st match of the competition.
