BeSoccer brings you a review of the eleven players who have excelled in this past day of European football. An exhaustive review of eleven players who make up a squad that, day after day, will change depending on the performance of the different teams in the five big European leagues: Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1, Premier League and Serie A.
Goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic (Mallorca); defenders Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain), James Tarkowski (Everton) and Raphael Guerreiro (Borussia Dortmund); midfielders Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich), Gabri Veiga (Celta), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich), Ohien Sancet (Athletic Club) and Pere Milla (Elche); and strikers Cyle Larin (Valladolid) and Harry Kane (Tottenham) make up the best starting XI of the European top five leagues' last matchday for their impact, performances, goals and assists.
- Predrag Rajkovic (SRB/Mallorca): Signed from Reims, the Serbian goalkeeper is a key man in Mallorca's tenth place in the standings. He has kept eight clean sheets in 20 La Liga games this term, the most recent of which came against Real Madrid on Sunday when he saved a penalty from Marco Asensio. He has a 31 per cent success rate in that regard. Of the 38 penalties he has been involved in, he has not conceded in 12 of them; six because of his saves and another six because the shot was not on target.
- Achraf Hakimi (MOR/Paris Saint-Germain): Paris Saint-Germain's recent ups and downs were made worse by Toulouse's 1-0 lead in the 20th minute at the Parc des Princes on Saturday, to which Achraf Hakimi responded with a left-footed equaliser. He also set up Messi for the 2-1 lead from outside the box. PSG, the leaders and champions, are now firmly at the top of the table.
- James Tarkowski (ENG/Everton): On the hour mark, the Everton centre-back beat Ramsdale with a beautiful header. That's why the Englishman was crucial in his side's win eight games later. He was also instrumental in the defeat of leaders Arsenal 13 games later. The Londoners held on to their lead at the top as Manchester City were beaten by Tottenham.
- Raphael Guerreiro (POR/Borussia Dortmund): Borussia Dortmund have returned unstoppable from the break for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, winning all four of their Bundesliga games. They beat Freiburg 5-1 on Saturday, with three assists from the Portuguese full-back, who set up Sebastian Haller for the 3-1 scorer for the first time since being diagnosed with testicular cancer, inspired the 4-1 counter-attack and fed Reyna for the 5-1 winner. His side are now third, just three points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
- Kingsley Coman (FRA/Bayern Munich): Bayern Munich returned to the top of the Bundesliga on Sunday after Union Berlin had gone ahead of them. They responded in style against Wolfsburg with two goals from the French winger which sealed the win 13 minues. The 0-1 goal was a ball in which missed everyone while the second goal was a lovely volley with the inside of his right foot.
- Gabri Veiga (ESP/Celta): Six goals have been scored by the 20 year-old Celta midfielder in the current La Liga season. Two of them saw Celta beat Betis at the Benito Villamarin. His goal made it 2-2 with a couple of touches, speed and a subtle finish over the goalkeeper. He also made it 2-3 in the 55th minute after running into the box to hit home a cross.
- Jamal Musiala (GER/Bayern Munich): Although Coman scored the opening two goals against Wolfsburg, the great goal Musiala scored to make it 1-4 in the 72nd minute puts him in the XI of the matchday. He controlled the ball on the right flank, he went back and then inside towards the middle and ran with the balll towards goal. His opponents could not stop him and after 12 touches, the ball ended up in the back of the net. He now has 13 this season.
- Oihan Sancet (ESP/Athletic Club): The attacker's second La Liga hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Cadiz, was also Athletic Bilbao's first La Liga victory of 2023. The attacking midfielder's clinical finishing proved the difference as he hit home a thunderbolt in the 10th minute to make it 1-0. He then made it 2-1 in the 35th minute with a good finish from inside the box and Sancet completed his hat-trick on the counter 15 minutes from time. Athletic Bilbao had gone into this game having lost their last three matches.
- Pere Milla (SPA/Elche): After going 19 matchdays without a single win, without victory in the whole of this La Liga campaign and their destiny seemingly rooted in relegation, Elche and Pere Milla rose up against everything, with a 3-1 win against Villarreal. He scored the first after three minutes, then finished two penalties very convincingly before going to hospital with a fractured collarbone.
- Cyle Larin (CAN/Valladolid): On loan from Bruges, the 27 year old Canadian striker's impact has been felt in La Liga and at Valladolid. Two games, two goals and six point for his side, who ended the season wonder Real Sociedad's sevent match unbeaten streak at their fortress of a stadium in San Sebastian. Valladolid jump to 10th, after breaking their four-game goalless losing streak thanks to the forward's arrival.
- Harry Kane (ENG/Tottenham): "It's a magical moment", Tottenham's now top-scorer said after getting his 267th goal, putting him one ahead of Jimmy Greaves' 266. He scored it after a quarter of an hour against the feared Manchester City, with Erling Haaland up front. The London side won 1-0. It was also Kane's 200th Premier League goal. There are only two who have more than him: Alan Shearer (260) and Wayne Rooney (208).
