Madrid are ready to go for the challenge of winning another Club World Cup. The Spanish side want to leave the painful defeat to Mallorca behind them with victory in a tournament which will allow them to get some confidence back.
Rodrygo, who will have to play Benzema's role, spoke to FIFA and openly explained what this competition means to him: "I always dreamed of playing this tournament as a Brazilian, I know the magnitude of this competition".
"It means everything for me, my family, for everyone I know, and they know how exited I am to be at this Club World Cup", the striker added, and he also remembered Santos' defeat, which was the club that trained him up, against Barcelona in the 2011 final.
"It's not my favourite memory, because Santos lost, but the tournament is still the biggest in Brazil. It's like the Champions League in Europe", he commented.
To finish, Rodrygo openly declared his love for Madrid. "I think that when you indentify yourself with a club, sometimes it's that: you feel good and all. And that was the case with Madrid. Even Barcelona were better at the time, I always liked Madrid more. I dreamt of coming here, playing here and that's the only explanation. I still love it", he ended by saying.
