Samu Omorodion is one of Luis de la Fuente's new players for Spain's matches against Denmark and Switzerland in the Nations League, in which the 20-year-old striker dreams of playing his first minutes with the senior team and dedicating them to his mother, Edith, for her effort to leave Nigeria to give a better life to her children.
“She suffered a lot, all the way from her country to Spain so that my sister and I could have a much better life. A lot of suffering, many hours that I get emotional remembering. Everything I do is for her, to make her proud of me. She is the most important woman in my life, she has helped me at all times. She plays a fundamental role, she is the pillar of my life, without her I don't know what I would do”, said Samu after living his first moments in the Spanish national team.
Edith, while pregnant with Samu, decided to leave Nigeria and traveled from the Gulf of Guinea to Melilla. Years later, she is proud of the steps her son has taken in football until he was called up by the Spanish senior national team.
“Before I called her to tell her, they had already told her. She started crying, I am also very happy for her and very proud of everything I'm doing and to be able to give it to her,” added Samu.
On the verge of his debut with the senior national team, after shining with goals in Spain's youth categories, Samu has set himself the challenge of "continuing to improve" and "learning from the best to become a better footballer ", with the dream of winning a title like his new teammates did in the last Nations League and Euros.
“I have many dreams and I discuss it with my family. I hope I can win a title with the national team. I hope to help the team and keep working to get many more opportunities,” he concluded.
