Xavi Hernandez has supporters and critics across the globe. One of those who belong to the first group is Oscar Garcia, former Barca youth coach and current coach of OH Leuven.
"Apart from Guardiola and Luis Enrique, I don't see a better coach for Barcelona than him. He has done a good job at the club. A coach who has won such a hard-fought La Liga title cannot be said to be leaving the club with a negative balance, quite the contrary. He can still achieve two important ones," said Oscar Garcia in 'Mundo Deportivo'.
The former Celta coach said that Xavi's decision to announce his departure midway through the season "is very personal and must be respected". "It can't have been easy because he loves the club very much," he added.
"You have to ask yourself why at Barcelona almost all the coaches end up with that wear and tear that they don't have in other big teams. Because there is also pressure in other countries and in teams that have the same obligation to win every game", thought Óscar García.
"At Barcelona there have always been very good players in the youth system and brave coaches such as Cruyff, Van Gaal, Pep, Xavi, Koeman, Luis Enrique... We have to give a chance to those players who show potential, regardless of what their ID card says," he argued.
Regarding the emergence of young La Masia talents, he explained that "it's great news for the club". "If the club is not going through its best moment financially, it is a joy to rely on the youth academy. They know that they can make it to the first team and prove their worth", he said.
