The England Football Association (FA) have announced on Thursday that Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs has been charged for misconduct.
"Matt Hobbs allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive words towards the match official/s around the tunnel area after the final whistle. He has until Monday, 28 October to respond," reads the FA's statement.
Said "improper manner" has been observed by the FA during Wolves's 2-1 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday, as controversy sparked due to John Stones' injury-time winner. The defender's header was initially disallowed by referee Chris Kavanagh for an offside position, however, following VAR intervention the goal was given.
This is the second time that Hobbs has been charged by the FA, having received one last year in November for his misconduct during a game against Newcastle. The sporting director was unhappy as the Magpies were awarded a controversial penalty for Hwang Hee-chan's challenge on Fabian Schar at the Molineux.
As a result, the 44-year-old was handed a one-game stadium suspension and was also fined £4,000 after admitting to using 'improper and/or abusive and/or insulting' language towards a match official.
