Seeing Joao Felix back in a Barcelona shirt is unlikely at the moment. The Portuguese was happy in the Catalan club's squad, but his destination seems to be further west and in another country, namely Lisbon.
A few days ago it came to light that Benfica and Atletico Madrid are allegedly negotiating the most expensive transfer deal in the history of the Portuguese club.
That deal, according to 'Correio de Manha', has been taking shape over the days. From the 20 million euros initially offered to the current 30 million euros, and only for 50% of the player's rights.
It was Jorge Mendes who directly informed Deco of Benfica's moves. And the fact is that Barcelona cannot currently reach the 30 million euros to keep the Portuguese forward.
The lack of playing time at the European Championship has deprived Atletico of a revaluation of the player, who is not willing to return to the Metropolitano with coach Diego Pablo Simeone.
The La Liga side are keen to let go of a player who has failed to make the team and who has been on loan twice in a row despite being the most expensive player in the club's history.
