German referee Felix Zwayer will referee next Wednesday's Champions League round of 16 second leg between Real Madrid and Liverpool at the Santiago Bernabeu, where his compatriot Marco Fritz will be in charge of the VAR.
The 41-year-old Zwayer will be joined in his refereeing team by Stefan Lupp and Marco Achmuller as assistant referees and Sven Jablonski as fourth official, UEFA confirmed.
Real Madrid, who start with the lead after a 5-2 win at Anfield, met Zwayer in the Champions League group stage in November 2019, when 'Los Blancos' thrashed Turkish side Galatasaray 6-0.
The German referee has refereed Liverpool in the Champions League twice and both times in matches against Porto.
The other round of 16 second leg on Wednesday between Napoli and German side Eintracht, with the Italian side winning 2-0 in the first leg, will be refereed by Englishman Anthony Taylor.
