It could not have been worse for Fermin Lopez. After having recovered from his previous left leg injury, the midfielder suffered a new injury on the same day he was back to training. This time though, on his right leg.
'Sport' reported the news of the injury, suggesting that the Barca player could be out for three more weeks. The injury is a tough blow for Fermin, who's return to the pitch was said to be imminent, following a succesful recovery. The official announcement from the club came later on.
While the previous injury involved his left leg, the new one concerns the opposite one - an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right quadricep to be more precise - as confirmed by Barcelona which will keep the 21-year-old out in the sidelines for a while.
Fermin Lopez's return would have been extremely important for Hansi Flick, who could've made use of the player to replace Dani Olmo - also out injured. In light of the unfortunate news, however, the German coach will have to work without both players for coming weeks.
It is important to note that Lopez sustained his previous injury on September 3rd with the Spanish naitonal team, and was expected back before the next international break.
