Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes spoke on new boss Ruben Amorim following the latter's arrival at Carrington on Monday. The midfielder praised the former Sporting coach's ability to connect with players, revealing how said trait makes him unique.
“Obviously for me, what stands out as I said to you is the connection he has with the players,” Fernandes told 'MUTV'. “You see it at the end of the game when a manager is going from your club in the middle of the season and with all the things that they have still to win.
“And you see the way they say goodbye to him, the way they feel, they make him feel part of the team and how they treat him. So it shows that this is a great character and he's someone that gives his all to the players," he added. Amorim's first game in charge at Man United is not until the 24th of November, but Fernandes - who played for Sporting himself before coming to Old Trafford - has already made his feelings clear.
Despite leaving Sporting Lisbon mid-season, Amorim remained a popular figure at the club. He ended his time at Portugal in style with a 4-2 win away at Braga to preserve a 100 per cent record in the Primeira Liga, while also boosting the hopes of his new fans thanks to a 4-1 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League.
