There will be no blue card for the moment in official competitions. FIFA wanted to make it clear that these reports that point to the application of the same at elite levels of football are "incorrect".
However, the world governing body has assured that in case of approval, it should be limited to "testing in a responsible manner at lower levels". This is the position of the body, which said the issue will be discussed at the International Football Association Board's General Assembly on 2 March.
"FIFA wishes to clarify that reports of the so-called 'blue card' at elite levels of football are incorrect and premature. Any such trials, if implemented, should be limited to testing in a responsible manner at lower levels, a position that FIFA intends to reiterate when this agenda item is discussed at the IFAB AGM on 2 March," they wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In this way, FIFA has responded to reports, which suggested that the IFAB had approved the use of a new blue card, which would begin to be used from next summer in lower level competitions.
In addition, the source said that the new card would be implemented gradually in the professional categories and that the FA itself had offered to implement it for both the Men's and Women's FA Cup next season.
