FIFA has made a surprising decision regarding the summer transfer window. The supranational body has decided to open the next summer transfer window from 1 to 10 June 2025, according to 'Marca'.
The idea is to boost and encourage the movement of players ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup, which will begin on 15 June and end on 13 July when the players' contracts have expired.
The fact that it will be played in two different years forces FIFA to enable this new window to either sign players or to renew them, so that they will not be exposed without contracts from 1 July. This new window will only be for teams participating in the Club World Cup, provided that their federations give the go-ahead for this new initiative.
In this way, clubs taking part in the World Cup will be able to sign players to be at the event and will also be able to renew, just for a few days if they wish, the contracts of players whose contracts expire on 30 June.
