Five coaches nominated for FIFA's The Best awards

FIFA have announced the list of the five nominees for The Best FIFA Coach of the Year 2022. The nominees are: Lionel Scaloni, Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola, Walid Regragui and Didier Deschamps.

FIFA also released the names of the five candidates for The Best FIFA Men's Coach on Thursday. The same goes for the best players and goalkeepers in both men's and women's football.
Thomas Tuchel, who managed Chelsea, was named The Best coach of 2021 by FIFA. The German boss was chosen ahead of Spain's Pep Guardiola and Italy's Roberto Mancini.
Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid)
The Italian coach managed to win the Champions League, La Liga and the UEFA Super Cup with Madrid. He is also the only manager to have won the top European club title four times.
Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)
The Spanish boss lifted his fourth Premier League title in five seasons with his current club. He also played an important role after being eliminated against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Walid Regragui (Morocco)
The North African team were the surprise package of the World Cup in Qatar after eliminating Belgium, Spain and Portugal. Regragui made Morocco the first African team to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup.
Didier Deschamps (France)
The French coach took the national team far in the World Cup despite losing to Argentina.
Lionel Scaloni (Argentina)
The Argentine coach made history by winning the third World Cup for the 'Albiceleste'. They had not won one since 1986. Moreover, Scaloni has only lost one of his last 43 matches as coach.
