More people from the football world continue to speak out on the Mbappe transfer saga. The last one was Leonardo, who was PSG's sporting director in two stages (2011-13 and 2019-22), in an interview granted to the newspaper 'L'Equipe'.
"For the good of PSG, it's time for Mbappe to leave," began the Brazilian, who did not take a hint at the PSG superstar and did so using the Champions League, a competition the Frenchman has yet to win.
"PSG existed before Kylian Mbappe and will exist after him. He has been in Paris for six years and, in those six seasons, five different clubs have won the Champions League: Real Madrid (2018 and 2022), Liverpool (2019), Bayern Munich (2020), Chelsea (2021) and Manchester City (2023), none of which had Mbappe in their ranks. That means it's totally possible to win this competition without him," he said.
Finally, Leonardo criticised the striker's attitude and questioned his leadership in the dressing room. "Because of his behaviour in the last two years, Mbappe has shown that he is not yet a player capable of really leading a team. He's a great player, not a leader. He's a great goalscorer, not a playmaker. It's difficult to build a team around him.
