Xavi Hernandez appeared at a press conference in front of the media to talk about the all-important game against Real Madrid. Barcelona face their eternal rivals again in a new 'Clasico', this time in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
The Barca coach began by talking about the importance of the game at the Santiago Bernabeu: "We'll prepare for the game in the same way as we always do against Real Madrid. They're a tough opponent, who sometimes don't dominate you, but with one counter-attack and two passes they're in your goal. We know they are a very difficult opponent. It's two games, it's a cup tie and we're very happy to be in this situation. It's a totally different competition to La Liga and the Europa League. We will go out to win and show personality. We will give 100 per cent, we want to win the title".
When asked which team is the favourite to reach the final, the Catalan coach responded loud and clear: "It's a Cup semi-final and you add to that the fact that it's a 'Clasico'. For us, Real Madrid are the favourites. Despite the absentees, they are the reigning La Liga champions and the reigning Champions League winners. We think they are a very difficult opponent and they are in a great level, after the comeback against Liverpool and the draw against Atletico Madrid. The Spanish Super Cup has nothing to do with it," added Xavi.
Will Ansu Fati be a starter? Xavi replied: "We must be more of a team than ever, in defence, attack, strategy. We have to keepthe ball, be brave, have personality. Madrid have strong players and they take advantage of every mistake. We have to play with personality and use our style of play, as we did in the Super Cup. The return of Ansu Fati is great news. The concussion is history. He has to be important for the team: I can see he's lively, happy and motivated. He is a fundamental player for the team".
