Anthony Stokes, a former Irish footballer who payed for Celtic, Sunderland and Crystal Palace, was arrested by Irish police and charged with reckless driving and possession of drugs.
Irish police arrested Stokes after he failed to appear for a court hearing. A manhunt began which led to his arrest in Dublin in the early hours of Friday morning, the 'Irish Mirror' said.
"Gardai (police) arrested two men, aged in their 30s, in the early hours of Friday 6 January 2023 in connection with dangerous driving incidents in Dublin 12. Drugs were also recovered from the vehicle," the force said in a statement.
Stokes also still has a warrant for his arrest issued in Scotland in September 2022 for failing to appear at a sentencing hearing.
He also cannot have contact with his ex-partner and her mother for four years from September 2019 for harassment, which he breached by repeatedly sending emails and text messages.
