The conclusion of the UEFA European Championship qualifying phase is certainly throwing up all sorts of interesting results, some of which will help shape which teams are most likely to actually challenge for the famous Henri Delaunay trophy in Germany next summer.

One such result came in the form of France’s outrageous 14-0 win over minnows Gibraltar, during which Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick and while clearly defeating a team as poor as Los Llanis heavily is not the making of a title-winning national team, Didier Deschamps’s side now has precisely the right balance of youth and experience that will make them the nation to beat at Euro 2024.
Football fans who fancy placing a wager on the competition, and there will be millions who will do just that, can make their bet all the sweeter by using this BetMGM promo code to further increase the value of any potential payout.
Deschamps has now been in charge of Les Bleus for over a decade and has brought home the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship during that period, and the embarrassment of riches he has at his beck and call makes France the team to beat.
To illustrate the broad nature of the playing squad, Deschamps has to pick from, there is veteran forward Olivier Giroud, who at 37 is clearly no spring chicken but is still incredibly effective, and at the other end of the age spectrum, there is 17-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery who scored on his debut against Gibraltar.
France have won all seven of their qualifying games to date, scoring 27 goals in the process and conceding just one.
The nucleus of the side that has won major honours in the past are still part of Deschamp's set-up, and that helps in the sense of there being a ‘been there, done that’ mentality that is crucial when it comes to the high-pressure situation that exists at the finals of any tournament.
Mbappe was recently asked about the differences between the coaching and managerial style of Deschamps versus his current PSG manager, Luis Enrique, to which he interestingly responded;
“Here [with France], the coach adapts to the opponent, which means I’m a different player. I can still improve, and the coach gives me total freedom on the left.”
“Luis Enrique gives me more structure. I adapt to all those patterns, and with the two great coaches I have, I’m always interested in listening to them.”
“He’s [Luis Enrique] a great coach and has a lot to teach me. From day one, I told him that he wouldn’t have any problems with me. I’ve always worked very well with the coaches I’ve had.”
Mbappe, at just 24, has already achieved so much and is destined to continue to improve and he will, without a doubt, be a player that causes all sorts of havoc in Germany and is a big reason why France are the favourites to win according to most pundits, and there are not many who would bet against a strong display.
