Paris Saint-Germain have made their position very clear: if Kylian Mbappe doesn't renew his contract, he will not wear their jersey again, even if it means benching him for all of next season.
And while the French player does not appear to have any intention of extending his contract, in order to sign on free transfer for Real Madrid in 2024, an agreement will have to be reached with his club before the end of the window.
In the meantime, the UNFP has come to the rescue of Ligue 1's best player of last season. The untion's President, Philippe Piat spoke to 'RMC' to remind everyone of the rights held by Mbappe, and above all, the obligations of PSG, in the position of his club and employer.
"If the two parties don't come to an agreement after the end of the transfer window, we will be forced to demand PSG to let Mbappe play", declared the Frenchman.
In short, Piat added that the UNFP's aim will be to "allow Mbappe to train normally, and probably force the club to play him, because otherwise it would be harassment, which would be illegal under employment law. When it's a player who's not very well known, you can pretend he's not in form. When it comes to the best player in the world, it's not possible to suggest that it's not for sanction reasons."
"The text I am referring to recommends sanctions if a player is sidelined for reasons that are not sporting. Procedures will be implemented," concluded the president of the Ligue 1 players' union.
