Alejandro Garnacho wanted to be part of the squad that will represent Argentina at the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer but his wishes have not been granted. Manchester United are unwilling to risk the winger for pre-season.
The 19-year-old has been one of the few bright spots for United in their troubled campaign as he scored nine goals and provided five assists in all competitions, with his potent combination of skill and speed giving opposing defenders sleepless nights.
As a result, the Red Devils do not want to lose Garnacho for the pre-season with the team as they think he could play a key role in the upcoming campaign. The forward tried his best to be granted the chance to play for Argentina but his request was rejected.
He even held private talks with his current manager Erik ten Hag, whose future at Old Trafford is uncertain, to try to convince the board but his efforts were in vain. The Olympic Games end on 9 August, a week before the 2024/25 Premier League season begins.
