Former striker Gary Lineker revealed that before Thomas Tuchel's appoitnment as England head coach, Carlo Ancelotti was offered the manager position.

Former England strker and current football pundit Gary Lineker revealed that the English Football Association (FA) held talks with Carlo Ancelotti before appointing Thomas Tuchel as England national team head coach.
German international Tuchel was unveiled as England manager on Wednesday, will be in charge of the Three Lions for just over two years, until the end of the 2026 World Cup. FA CEO Mark Bullingham said that 10 potential candidates were interviewed to take over Gareth Southgate's squad, and Carlo Ancelotti was supposidely one of them.
"It was confirmed that talks were held with Pep Guardiola in the summer, and as far as I know, also with Ancelotti," said Lineker, who currently works with the 'BBC'.
Ancelotti had a brief managerial experience in England. He was in charge of Chelsea for two years, leading them to a Premier League title and a FA Cup, meanwhile, he spent a year and a half at Everton.
In his 30 years of coaching, Ancelotti has never once taken over a national team. At one point, he was very close to being appointed head coach of the Brazil national team, before eventually choosing to stay at Real Madrid.
