Gavi's absence was the main news for the Spanish national side at the University of Qatar, just hours after their draw against Germany on the second matchday of the World Cup, with sights already set on the Japan game, which will close the groups stages, where a draw will be enough to see them progress.
Luis Enrique pushed back the training start time and the players felt it on the pitch - it was 31 degrees with 45% humidity. Those who started against Germany took part lightly, stretching their legs by running and joining in the rondos. Those who played less or not at all trained with more itnensity.
The main news was Gavi's absence, who went all out just like in every game, and was subbed off by Luis Enrique after receiving a strong tackle. On Monday, he stayed inside the side's training base according to 'EFE', despite not having any serious injury and nothing that will stop him from playing against Japan.
The other 25 trained normally, turning a fresh page on what happened against Germany, when they let the win get away from them in the last minutes of the game, and got to work on the Japan clash.
Manager Luis Enrique and his team were already studying from the early in the morning the tactical details from the Germany clash, highlighting the mistakes made in the final moments of the match in order to find solutions. From 12:25, already out on the pitch, he started to work with his players and for this game there will be no rest day until Thursday, when Spain's group, which they top, closes.
